The following testimonials were unsolicited and the client is happy in most cases for people to contact them if intending to go to the same treatment centre in order to get firsthand experience of their programme or simply to describe the process and the support we gave them.

  Dear Keith,

I am nearing the end of my time here at XXXXXXXXX, I have learnt a huge amount and now all I have to do is put it all into practice, hmmm, easier said than done. I am very nervous about my return but feel confident at the same time. This place has been idyllic, I have definitely made the most of it, swimming often in the sea watched over by the seals, running every day, walking, painting and tons of reading, all this in between REBT sessions, group sessions and one to one's with my key worker who is Caroline. The staff are lovely, and as desperate to see the family as I am, I will also be sad to go.

I wonder if you have copies of the e-mails you sent me about XXXXXXXXX as somehow they seem to have disappeared from my email file, can't find them when I search your name or in deleted.

I have to thank you very much, for helping me when you did, I don't know where I would have ended up or how much I would of had to pay, and I know it would never have been as unique an experience as XXXXXXXXX has been.

I also must thank you for introducing me to some after care, I have an appointment set up for my return with Veronica and am eager to see how we get on. I also will still have contact with XXXXXXXXX as after care.

Hope you had a good summer.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely

Sarah D

  Hi Glenn

Thank you,

I have just been to XXXXXXXXX today with Mum and it is so beautiful, better than you described, and I didn't fully believe you. So I'm going back up next week to be admitted. Peter is lovely. The assessment was very thorough and Mum felt I was in very safe hands. She took me to the Diana Princess of Wales Clinic in Norfolk last year and took me away immediately and XXXXXXXX is half the price. You do a fantastic job.

I'm going up by train and Patricia is meeting me at Glasgow Central on Tuesday - it is nearly 7 hours by train but I so want to get back there to start my programme.

All the best,

Kim

Hi Glenn,

Thanks for that. I will give Tricia a call when I get back. She sounds so perfect. I am on my way to XXXXXXXX today. I'm just on the train passing Carlisle and can't wait to see Patricia and Peter again - they are so nice. I'm so happy. Hope you are having a lovely day.

Kindest regards,

Kim

  Hi Keith,

I have today spoken to Patricia at XXXXXXXXX and they have done my assessment now so my partner, Danny is aiming to take me to Scotland a week on Monday.

I'm thrilled to bits that this has come about and cannot thank you enough for your support!!! I got no help from anyone else and after speaking to you, Danny and I just sat and cried as it appears I am going to get the help I need to continue my studies and my life.

I will be in touch to let you know for sure which day l will be admitted until then take care and l shall update you soon.

Thank you for putting me in touch with Kim - she was so excited about XXXXXXXXX and what they have done for her I can't wait to get there. She even offered to come with me on the journey, to show the staff how well she is and to keep Danny awake on his way back! We will do that as she sounds very nice and has been most helpful.

Thank you.

Drug Rehab and Alcohol Rehab

  Hi Keith

It was good speaking to you last night and I owe you and XXXXXXXX so much.

Terry is now 9 months clean and his girl friend, Trisha gave him a beautiful little girl, XXXX on 1st October. Photos attached - sorry, Im a proud Granma but isn't she beautiful. I think the baby was the only reason he wanted to get well and he is a lovely Dad and he is never going back to the drink. I only wish his father was alive to see her - alcohol is a dreadful thing and I thought I would loose Terry too.

He is loving his new job at XXXXXX Golf Club as the assistant proffessional and it is far more stable than his previous job. He always loved his golf and is hoping to play for Berks next year and is currently a reserve player. He goes to work 6 days a week with a smile on his face and he looks so handsome. I now never worry about the Police knocking on the door to tell me he is in a bad way in hospital driving while pissed. He doesn't hide his past and he has met so many golfers who are also in recovery. Isn't it amazing how common this illness is.

I will never forget how you were adamant he should not sell his van for his livlihood after treatment - as it is he now owns a family Ford hatchback of which he is very proud and he gave the van to another patient at XXXXXXXXX. He made so many friends at the clinic and they are all doing brilliantly. They all talk to each other every few days and it is amazing how people from all backgrounds and ages (one is a lawyer and another a teacher) just get on so well. Terry said he only ever spoke to a lawyer before when he was in court and he never liked his teachers at Trinity Comp. (It's actually a very nice school - the best in Newbury but Terry only liked football.)

Trisha constantly mentions you and the staff at the clinic and how kind you all were when Terry was at his worst. It's hard to remember how bad he was and I'm sure he would be dead or in prison today. You never criticised or judged him and you and Steve at the clinic could not have done more to help me and bear with me whilst I raised the money for his treatment. Steve is a saint - they all are at XXXXXXXXX. His graduation was the most wonderful day of my life. I went through a whole packet of tissues seeing all those bright young people looking so well, tanned and happy. How do they do it?

Why isn't this treatment made more available on the NHS?

Terry is returning next month to play for the clinic's football team, apparently one of the counselers is a keen footballer and they play an annual game against another similar team of 'addict amateurs' in Bournemouth. He just loves that place and can't wait to meet up with his old friends.

How is your son's wife getting on? When is the baby due? Grandfather soon! You will love it.

With love
Elaine

p.s. I'm happy for you to publish this and use our names but perhaps not the baby's name - is that ok?

  Dear Keith,

I contacted you about 2 and 1/2 years ago about my father Patrick. My mother had recently died and although Dad had always been a very heavy drinker the loss of Mum sent him over the edge and he became a hardened alcoholic.

Our lives were being systematically destroyed and I was at my wits end about what to do - I had fallen into all of the traps of thinking I could make him stop drinking - anger, emotional blackmail, tears - you name it I tried it.

I got in touch with you and in March 2007 arranged for Dad to go into a clinic in Yorkshire - he spent a month there and when he came out he had stopped drinking, but was angry with me for forcing him to go into the clinic and still believed that he could beat it and have the occasional drink. You said that might happen!

He started drinking again in the July of that year and by Christmas he was back to the secret drinking - not so secret to be honest!

In February 2008 I had been away over night and my brother and I had spent hours trying to get hold of Dad - I drove home full of fear of what I would find. I actually fully expected Dad to be dead. I have never written this down but there was almost a part of my brain that had started to deal with the funeral and life without Dad as I drove the 2 hours home.

When I got in Dad had collapsed and was unable to get up, he was yellow and lying in a pool of his own faeces and urine. My Dad is a big man and it took me about 3 hours to get him off the floor and cleaned up and into bed - I had to disinfect the house and throw all of the bedding away.

The following morning Dad said that was it, he couldn't put me through any more of this and he would never drink again. I believed him.

That was a year and 6 months ago and Dad is a new man. At first he replaced alcohol with chocolate but has since lost 5 stone in weight (following your 'eating regime' from your website), taken up gardening, made new friends and is fantastic dad and grandpa to my kids.

The respect I have for my father is immense and I would say to anyone never give up hope, sometimes you have to hit the bottom to know what "up" looks like.

Thank you Keith for helping us take the first step to getting our lives back. I don't know how we got through that time but your help and support without criticism gave me the strength to deal with Dad. You and Louise have been great and I can't thank you enough.

It really is better than ever now! If anyone else is facing what I faced get them to give me a call on 077xxxxxxxxx.

  Dear Louise,

I'm so frustrated I could just SCREAM!! Angie is still in the hospital until next week, this is the third time since last April. I'm so scared this is going to kill her. The family has decided that she will stay with her sisters once out and attend an NHS day clinic in Kidderminster. Though they liked the XXXXXX Clinic, they have decided it is too far away. I told them what you said about the benefits of being away from Kidderminster but they want to visit. I'm now trying to find a residential clinic within the Midlands, close to Birmingham if possible. I ended up accidentally talking to a fellow named Dxxxx (I think) from another agency who told me there were clinics up here but he couldn't disclose the names of the places I might be able to contact. The difference in service is stark; you give everything and this idiot gave me nothing and just wanted my credit card details. You did warn me. I don't have the time, nor the energy anymore, to play cat and mouse games like this! Do you know of any other places and can you send me info on them please?

Thank you once again.

Also, I have a new email address effective immediately and also getting a new mobile this week:

pippaxxxxxx@googlemail.com

With best regards,

Pippa

Dear Louise,

Yes, Angie is FINALLY going to the XXXXXX Clinic! I can't thank you enough for all of your help. It has been such an uphill battle and you have never faltered! Her sister and her best friend are driving her down tomorrow. I will try to get down to visit during her stay. After all our conversations I would like to see the place. I feel very confident this facility is the best one for her. You have been great. I couldn't have done this without you and Keith being on the other side of the phone. It wasn't just convincing Angie, it was also convincing her family that residential care is the only solution. They were still dithering as late as Monday night! I was ready to tear my hair out as you can imagine.

She's in the clinic's hands now and I know she will be safe with them.

My new mobile number is 0777xxxxxxxx.

With best regards,

Pippa

Carla is admitted Monday 19/01/09 as arranged. I can not believe how nice this place is and the price we paying. Marco is charming and must be Italian although he doesn't look it :) He make my wife feel really welcome and the whole process from phone call to you on Sunday night - forgive me but I was desperate -could not have been better and I had no idea admission could be arranged so quickly and so late. I am sure you saved her life as she was fitting. As vegan, I was concerned that this might present trouble for her but Janet (?), the Head in Nursing is also vegan and reassured Carla that this not a problem in any case. I wonder if they can cure that too!!!!!!!!!!

One point you did say that she can use her mobile as she talks daily to our daughter in Italy. The clinic take her phone and will not let her use until the next week and in evenings. Carla accept this as they allow her use clinic phones free even to Trevignano Romano but I felt you to know this. (The clinic no longer confiscates phones and allows calls from day one).

I thought the South African psychiatrist was marvellous and he put Carla at ease thoughout the process. His manner is perfect and I know now Carla is in best place. There is nothing like this in Romano.

Thank you so much for listening and to help me.

Ciao

Franco G
