Drug Addiction Treatment and Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Alternative to Rehab - Could Online Therapy be the answer?
Online or E-Therapy is a highly successful means of controlling drinking problems. This fact-based method uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), two highly researched and successful means of dealing with problem drinking. The system we use is unique in the UK and should not be confused with online counselling. It is fully structured, robust, and clinically supported by a multidisciplinary team. The process is safe, confidential, and highly effective (evidence-based results accumulated since March 2005). The organisation behind E-Therapy has been in the addiction field for over 100 years and is possibly the largest addiction and alcohol treatment company in Europe.

E-Therapy is ideal for the following people:
Those who cannot or do not want commit to inpatient rehab.

Single parents with young children and no family support whilst in rehab.
People who are not yet ready for rehab or who have only recently become dependent on alcohol.
Non-dependent alcohol users who wish to cut down on their damaging levels of alcohol use.
  People who require complete anonymity.
Those who cannot afford the cost of an inpatient stay in a rehab .
People who have relapsed recently or who have been into residential rehab or day-care but need more ongoing support.

It is not for the following groups:

How does it work?

Call or email ADMIT Services and we will provide you with a unique Key Access code to the E-Therapy site. This code not only allows you to access the site but it also entitles you to a substantial reduction in the fees. ADMIT Services, due to our enviable ethical, professional and honest reputation, is the only referral agency to offer this programme. The discounted fees are also only available through ADMIT Services and related websites.

You are then assessed online as being suitable for this method, allocated a counsellor and the programme starts. You complete various packages over the 16 weeks and you also have an alcohol diary. This record of your drinking is far more than a list of how much you drink as it looks at your feelings and situations that lead you to drinking. It is highly effective in understanding why you are drinking to excess and abusing alcohol.

You can go to the website at any time of the day or night at a time suitable to you. Your allocated counsellor will respond as quickly as possible but always within 72 hours.

What security or confidentiality protection is there?

Firstly, there are no treatment emails sent to your email address. Your details are securely recorded but you do not have to give your real name. You log into the E-Therapy website using your individual security 'key' and into your secure area where only you and your counsellor can access your information. Case notes are regularly examined by the senior medical staff but your details remain completely confidential.

I really cannot believe this could work - what proof do you have?

We appreciate your scepticism and we were equally sceptical when we first saw this method. The system has been running most successfully in the Netherlands and it is now the chosen method of their NHS for problem drinkers and the statistics speak for themselves:

Weekly consumption levels:

Treatment phase Female Male
Pre-Treatment 32.5 46.2
Post-Treatment 8.9 14.7
6-month follow up 13.5 13.3

Remember that the World Health Organisation recommends a safe drinking level of 14 units per week for females and 21 units per week for males. Those people who have completed this programme have exhibited greatly reduced consumption levels, had far fewer health-related problems and gave the programme very high ratings for effectiveness and safety.
