First you need either to complete the questionnaire,
please CLICK
HERE, call me or email me
. The 0845 number does get very busy as each call tends to take at least
30 minutes. You can also call or text my mobiles 07793 498 326
or 07831 790 356 (8 a.m. to 9 p.m., 7 days a week) , leave me your number and I will get back to you. |
| |
Having established whether or not the
client needs detox, rehab or both, I then need to look at your other requirements,
e.g. do you need a single room? - please note that the majority
of clinics use shared accommodation as it is felt to be beneficial for
the recovery process. Do you need to be close to home? It is often
preferable to be away from your local area for primary treatment as you
are less likely to suffer the known local temptations. On the other hand,
you need to consider aftercare - the ongoing treatment that may be included
in the treatment package and often only accessible if you live close to
the clinic. |
| |
The referral to the clinic is then handled by ADMIT
- we will need your date of birth, address, next of kin,
ideally your GP's name, address and telephone number (no contact
is made with your GP), and a brief recent medical history. If you
have any significant medical problems, it is best to advise us of this
at the earliest opportunity. |
| |
Transport can be a problem for many people
either through poor health, or the fact that they have lost their driving
licences. ADMIT therefore can provide an executive car to collect
you and take you to your chosen clinic. Clearly there is a charge for
this service to cover the driver's time, petrol and other expenses. |
| |
Finally, do make sure that you have sufficient funds
available to pay for your treatment. Most clinics will require 2 weeks'
fees on arrival. Most accept credit or debit cards but not all do so.
|
| |
Don't
go on a binge the night before treatment - you are only prolonging your
treatment and adding to your costs. It is also extremely dangerous and
could seriously jeopardise your recovery. |
| |
Don't expect a clinic to hold your bed booking
if you haven't paid a deposit. Check with the clinic but usually one week's
fees will secure your bed. |
| |
Do take books and magazines if you are
going into detox prior to rehab. Detox can be very boring. |
| |
Don't take valuables and large sums of money into
rehab. You will need change for pay phones and cigarette money, but you
will need no more than £50 per week for sundries. |
| |
Do
take all prescriptions and medications in their original packaging.
Illegal drugs and alcohol are strangely not permitted in most clinics!
|
| |
Don't look at others in the clinic and think they
look worse than you and don't listen to others who tell you that you look
so well you shouldn't be in treatment. Only the counselling staff can
advise you on your treatment programme
.but others will try. |
| |
Do
be honest. The counselling staff are very adept at detecting lies and
they have heard every 'tale' under the sun. Lying and denial about your
problem only prolongs your treatment. |
| |
Do give yourself time to settle into the regime
of the clinic - it can take 2 or 3 days to integrate fully into the life
of the clinic. After a week you will feel brilliant and ready to leave.
Don't! You would be guaranteed to relapse. |
| |
Do
remember that detox alone is not treatment and is not the answer. Most
people require both detox and rehabilitation for a successful outcome. |
| |
Don't think that your family, friends, business
or work colleagues cannot manage without you and therefore you can only
spare 2 weeks for treatment. The truth is more likely that they can't
manage with you at work or at home whilst under the influence of drugs
or drink. Without treatment, you are going to lose your job, your business
and your family. You need to get well and it takes time.
